Welcome to Oak Class
I am delighted to welcome Oak Class pupils and their families to the new school year. This will be an exciting year of learning, growth and new adventures as children build on their skills, develop confidence and work together as a team. There is a lot to look forward to and I can't wait to see the enthusiasm and creativity that every pupil brings to our classroom. The adults working in Oak Class this year are myself (Ms Leeb) and Mrs Vincent.

History: The Kingdom of Benin
What was life like in the Kingdom of Benin and how did contact with Europeans change it?
In this topic we will explore aspects of life in Ancient Benin through lookin at oral histories and artefacts. We will find out where Ancient Benin was on a map and where it sits historically in relation to other important historical events. The children will find out why the famous Benin bronzes are important and what they teach us about life in Benin. They will investigate the changes to the Kingdom once the Europeans arrived and the reasons the British became involved in Benin and what effect this had.
